The first Danamer projects were built in 1989 as a partnership between Windland and Vestas, a wind turbine manufacturer Wind Energy. Production exceeded expectations and the project was wildly successful. In 1991, a second Danamer project was built; it, again, was tremendously successful. The Danamer projects were the first to use the V-25 and V-27 technology in the United States.
Windland purchased Vestas’s interest in the Danamer projects in 2005. Today, the turbines continue to produce at availability levels over 90% with modest maintenance cost.
